Windows Live Messenger is history on March 15

We're at an end of the time when people use Windows Live Messenger. The very popular instant messenger by Microsoft will be terminated, as has been told to us before.

Microsoft is now expected to close the Live Messenger service on March 15 in everywhere else than China, where it will still stay in service.

The company expects their 100 million WLM users to switch to Skype, which they say has seen a lot of improvements on the Windows platform. This would mean a lot more users for Skype, but there's no doubt that many still prefer Live Messenger over Skype.
Microsoft updated the Live Messenger a few years ago, and received some negative opinions on the update. The Mac version of the IM has never been the best one around, while Microsoft has seen a lot of effort to make Skype the best communication application out there for all platforms.

Maybe this isn't such a bad thing after all. What do you think? What IMs do you use?
