The End is Coming... (for the iPad)

New market studies show that the gap between Android and iPad tablets is narrowing... does this mean that the end of the iPad's reign as the most popular tablet is coming to an end?

No, don't worry, the iPad isn't dead. It is, however, losing the battle to the Android Tablet Universe
For some time now the Apple iPad has dominated tablet sales. Nobody dares deny that the iPad is currently the king (of sales). Whether that be the Retina Display, which receives praise for its crisp detail, or whether it be Apple's ridiculously high number of apps, it does not matter, the iPad has outsold every other tablet in existence. However, recent studies by ABI Research show that the gap between Android tablet sales and Apple tablet sales is slowly disappearing. Does this mean the iPad may no longer be the best selling tablet sometime soon? API Research says yes, by 2013.
Back in 2010, when the iPad first released and Android competition appeared, it was predicted that Android-based tablets would outsell the iPad by 2016, however, that has obviously changed. Here is what API had to say about this:
"With the introduction of a smaller, lower-cost iPad mini, Apple has acknowledged Android’s beachhead of 7-inch-class tablets, though at the same time, it has failed to deliver a knock-out punch through innovation, pricing, and availability during the most critical selling period of the year.
As the OS of choice for the majority of device OEMs, we expect the Android ecosystem to continue growing in numbers – new manufacturers, better device choices for reaching more markets, and more developers finding value from apps and content."
All there is left to say now is: Let the best Tablet(s) win.
