The phone had sold 20 million units in 100 days, or around three months. It was also the most pre-ordered phone of Samsung, getting 9 million pre-orders. The 9 million pre-orders were placed in three weeks after the phone was revealed in London.

In comparison, the Galaxy S 2 sold the same amount of 20 million units in nine months, which is three times longer, and it gathered only 3 million pre-orders in two months.
