Samsung Fights Back

Here Apple, have a taste of your own medicine....

That's right folks, Samsung is indeed suing Apple over, not one, not two, but eight LTE patents that the Korean Electronics Giant claims Apple has infringed upon with the release of the latest iPhone 5.

It seems that the ongoing battle through patents will never end. The newest example of this vicious cycle is none other than our dear Samsung, who is indeed planning to sue Apple for infringing 8 LTE patents.

After having to pay billions to Apple for infringing on the rectangle that Apple allegedly owns, it only makes sense that Samsung would attempt to get back at their arch-nemesis by attacking the iPhone 5. However just or poetic this may sound, not everyone is proud of Samsung for attacking Apple in the same way in which they were unfairly attacked. However, we must remember that this is not a patent over a rectangle with rounded edges; this is a legitimate reason, after all, Samsung owns a little bit over 10% of existing LTE Patents.

Here is what a Samsung representative had to say about what Samsung plans to do:

"Samsung anticipates that it will file, in the near future, a motion to amend its infringement contentions to add the iPhone 5 as an accused product. On September 12, 2012, Apple announced that it will release the iPhone 5 on September 21, 2012. Based on information currently available, Samsung expects that the iPhone 5 will infringe the asserted Samsung patents-in-suit in the same way as the other accused iPhone models. Samsung plans to file a motion to amend its infringement contentions to address the iPhone 5 as soon as it has had a reasonable opportunity to analyze the device. Because Samsung believes the accused functionality of the iPhone 5 will be similar to the accused functionality of other accused Apple products, Samsung does not believe that amendment of its infringement contentions should affect the case schedule."

As it seems they are set on their decision, all we can hope for is that any lawsuits Samsung files against Apple are in the spirit of justice and not revenge.

What are your thought on Samsung's actions?
