Samsung and Apple are at it again

Here's a question for you: just how broken is the US patent system?
Well, if Apple legally owning a rectangle with rounded edges isn't enough for you, how does Samsung suing Apple over a built-in speaker-phone and audio jack sound?

Don't get me wrong: I like Samsung quite a lot. However, if you have been following the recent Apple vs Samsung news you may have noticed that Samsung is now expanding their lawsuit against Apple to include the iPad 4. The reason? Well, Samsung claims that the iPad 4 infringes 2 of its patents: having an external audio output jack and having an external speaker.
It's upsetting to see that a good company like Samsung has fallen into a lawsuit frenzy in order to be able to compete. It's also sad to know that this is what the American Patent System has brought corporations to: a wave of nonsensical lawsuits over nonsensical patents simple because two companies can't get along and compete fairly.
What's left to do, for now, is sit tight and wait to see how the latest lawsuits turn out and hope that this marks the end of a broken system.
