Nokia will update existing Lumias, here's what you'll get

Nokia has showed us two pieces of smoking hot hardware, which will pack the new Windows Phone 8 OS. But what about the existing Lumias?

Well, Nokia just posted what they will include in the updates to the Lumia 710, 800 and 900.

What was the most pleasant thing for me to see, Nokia will include bluetooth file transfer, enabled for sending files despite what the phone model.

The most notable new feature that has got influence from WP8, is the new start screen, with adjustable tile sizes (more than 1x2 and 1x1).

Bluetooth file transfer will come in handy when sharing pictures with your friends.

A ringtone maker is something we haven't seen for, well, over ten years. Nokia had a ringtone composer in the older phones, and now it seems you can release your inner composer with the Lumia. Unfortunately this is only for selected markets.

There is no information on the rollout timeframe, but Nokia stated the rollout will be phased.

Nokia's words exactly:

  • A new Start screen look and feel, familiar from Windows Phone 8, giving you a whole new look the moment you unlock your phone
  • Ringtone maker app to selected markets to create a personal ringtone
  • Contact share app updated to support sharing over Bluetooth in addition to SMS and email
  • Bluetooth file transfer to send media files via Bluetooth from your Lumia device to any other phone
Are you interested in getting a Windows Phone, or do you already own one?
