Is Google playing Apple?

Google has been victimized by users around the world thanks to Apple's claim to wage "thermonuclear war" against the Android Operating System, simply because Apple believes it to be a stole piece of software. However, Google's recent actions may make some people question Google's ability to play nicely.

Fairly recently, Google threatened to take the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Acer's license to use Android after Acer claimed to be in the works of a device for Chinese consumers that would run the Aliyun OS. Soon after the threat, Acer pulled the plug on the project, which makes some of us wonder: Is Google now going to be playing like Apple?
Limiting consumer's choices is not something that any of us want. That, to many of us, is the main reason why we support Google in their war with Apple: Apple's many attempts to cripple the Android Operating System, either by attacks on Android's most attractive phones like the Samsung Galaxy series, or by simply using any patents possible to try to show the world that Android is stolen. Now that Google appears to be playing the mean, almost monopolistic corporation, we may see a decline in Android popularity.
However, before anyone points a finger at Google, it's probably a good idea to wait for the companies rationale in making this threat at Acer.
Unfortunately, it appears as if Google's attitude may also interfere with the upcoming Windows Phone 8. It is definitely a possibility for Google to make the same threats toward Samsung and Nokia, two of the more popular manufacturers of Windows Phone devices, if Google finds it cannot compete with Windows Phone * once it releases.
Only time will tell the fate of Windows Phone 8, Aliyun, and Google's Android. For now, let's simply try to keep an eye out on Google's "game plan" and decide for ourselves if their actions are in any way justified.
